Morgan Brinkman Joins Gastroenterology Associates

Morgan joined Gastroenterology Associates of Catawba Valley in September 2025. Most recently, she was a physician assistant with a gastroenterology practice in the Boone area. 


Morgan has also served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), medical office assistant, and certified nursing assistant working in western North Carolina.


Morgan earned her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University with a concentration in Exercise Science. She received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Wingate University.


Morgan is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed in the state of North Carolina.


Morgan is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology. 

She is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).


Morgan is on the medical staff of Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

Dr. Patel earned his undergraduate degree in Health Systems Management from Loyola University in Chicago and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis.

Previous screening guidelines started at age 50. Studies show rates of colorectal cancer among people younger than 50 are on the rise, according to the American Cancer Society.
